Christmas at our House

Wow, all that lead-up to Christmas and then it was over so fast! We stayed in town and had a really nice, yet tiring day. Tyson didn't take a nap yesterday and ended up sleeping in until 10 AM! I guess he was worn out too. We are sorting through the toys and trying to straighten up after the present tornado went through! Here are the picture highlights...

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care:

The new basketball hoop gets Tyson's seal of approval!

A quick comparison of the boys... Tyson wore the same sweater on Christmas Day two years ago as Miles did yesterday, so I had Jeremy take a similar picture. I can't believe how much different they look now!

Tyson was very happy to see the "baby basketball hoop" that Aunt Bev and Lisa got for him and his brother:

Miles finally decided Aunt Bev was ok and let her hold him:

Nice pic of my brother Ross and his girlfriend Nicole:

Family pic... I think Tyson was completely sick of the camera by this point:

I'm a bit biased, but I think Miles gets cuter everyday!

And here's a video my Dad took of Tyson opening presents. He had finished his own and was working on his brother's. Miles had just woken up from his afternoon nap and was having his bottle, so he didn't mind!

Hope everyone had as nice of a Christmas as we did!

38 Weeks 2 Days

I got this idea from my friend Kim to document Miles' age in the number of weeks and days that he was in the womb. He was born after 38 weeks and 2 days of gestation, and he's now exactly 38 weeks and 2 days old. It's hard to believe! He has brought so much joy into our lives. We love having the little guy around and can't imagine what life would be like without him! Happy 38 weeks and 2 days, Milosh!

Army Crawling

Here is Miles doing his version of the army crawl. He usually combines this with a forward lunge to get to what he wants. He is getting around better every day!

Getting So Big!

So I can't believe I forgot to post this a few days ago, but I was caught up with the Santa pictures. Miles' first tooth came in at 8 1/2 months old. He had been a bit irritable leading up to it so I'm hoping he's over the pain. It's so cute seeing that tiny tooth in there! I've never nursed a baby with teeth so I'm hoping we don't have any biting issues!

Also, he's doing really well pulling up and standing supported for longer periods of time. I'm still not used to it. He will be sitting in front of a toy, I'll leave the room briefly and come back, and he'll be standing proudly! He has taken some pretty good tumbles but he seems very resilient and rarely cries when he falls.

Miles also has his own way of getting around. He sort of army crawls by dragging himself around, and he also gets up on all fours and lunges forward. He hasn't done any traditional crawling yet, but he can certainly use a combination of moves to get to what he wants. It's a pretty slow method and he still gets frustrated, though. I wonder if he'll be crawling by Christmas??

Visit With Santa

We finally took the boys to see Santa this evening. Thanks to my friend Shauna, we avoided the long lines and overpriced mall Santa this year and saw him at a local community center. They had the park all lit up with Christmas lights and decorations, and inside the building where Santa was they had Christmas crafts, music, and refreshments. I liked how it was a no-pressure situation where you bring your own camera and the kids can go up and chat with Santa as they please.

When we first got there Tyson jumped up and down excitedly saying, "It's Christmas time!!" He was pretty hyped up about this visit, and both the boys did great. I wasn't sure how Miles would handle sitting on his lap, but he smiled right away. Tyson did his standard squinty-eyed smile. He gave Santa a couple high fives and sat on his lap for awhile talking about basketball hoops and demonstrating how to shoot a basket. He was very happy to also get a candy cane from Santa. It was a fun visit, and Tyson got to hang out with his friend Isabel for a little while as well.

Telling Santa what he wants for Christmas:

A quick family pic (don't mind Tyson's green frosting-stained mouth):

It is so fun getting to see the holidays through the eyes of a child. Can't wait to see the boys' reactions on Christmas morning!

Monday Playtime

With a high of 17 degrees today, the boys and I decided to stay in. I put them in their matching red "sledding puppy" shirts (which are big enough they could wear them next year) in case I got brave enough to take them to the mall for pictures with Santa, but we stayed home instead. Tyson's not sure about Santa this year. I guess we'll have to see him another day. But here are some pictures of the boys playing today.

I got out the big Play-Doh canister in the basement and we had fun making "food" and watching A Garfield Christmas on the portable DVD player (for the first of many times today - I'm not complaining, because Garfield is a BIG favorite of mine from my childhood and I'm thrilled that Tyson likes him too!).

Miles having fun with the monkey toy:

Then later on I stripped Miles down to his diaper so he could practice his crawling skills without his clothes getting in the way. Well, almost-crawling skills. He rocks back and forth on all fours, but right now his primary modes of "transportation" are rolling all over the place and swiveling around in circles on his belly. He seems to be getting so much stronger every day! The boys had fun playing on the floor together:

First Snow

This past weekend we had our first big snow of the season. We played outside for a little bit making a fort and snowballs. Even though there was 8 inches of snow, Tyson just wanted to shoot baskets with snowballs!

Little Laundry Helper

Miles enjoys sitting in the laundry basket "helping" me just like Tyson did at this age...
