Sporty Spiders Soccer

Tyson just finished up a three-week session of soccer. We had it in the mornings this time instead of evenings like t-ball. Even though he loves kicking balls, he wasn't into it as much as t-ball. We also had to skip a couple times because of the intense morning heat. He had a few friends in his class though, so that was nice.

High fives!

Pool Boy Jr.

Tyson recently went from hating the pool to loving it, and now it appears Miles has done the same! Before, if you stood him in 2 inches of water (outside the bathtub), he would cry and want out immediately. But today he had a blast playing in the pool! I think he was just copying his big brother and decided he liked it himself. It's nice to no longer say "my kids don't like the water" like I was at the beginning of the summer!

Sorry about the first few photos being hazy... my camera lens fogged up when I brought it outside due to the 90+ degree temps today.

Miles and the Spoon

When Miles was mostly finished with his strawberry applesauce the other night, I gave him the cup and spoon to experiment with. He was able to feed himself a little before I got the camera out, but not so much once I started recording!

Swim Lesson Wrap-Up

Tyson finished out swim lessons this week. I'm so happy with the program! I'm glad I listened to my friend Lacey and enrolled him, when originally we weren't planning on doing lessons this summer. Hopefully we can keep getting him in the water as much as possible until he takes lessons again.

Here he is doing the kick bar with Miss Carrie:

And here's the evaluation card from his teachers that he proudly presented to me on the last day. He would still be in the "Turtle" preschool level if we were to enroll him again.

We're proud of our "pool boy"!

4th of July Block Party

Every year, our street has an awesome 4th of July block party. We get permission from the city to block off most of the street all day long and there's a bouncy house, water activities, volleyball, pickle ball, a bike parade, music/dancing, a bags tournament, fireworks, and of course plenty of food and drinks! This year we also had a family whiffle ball game at a park with a special guest appearance by the mascot of the local minor league baseball team.

We all had a blast even though it was a very long HOT day! Miles actually took a four hour nap (!) so he missed a lot of the activities, but I'm sure he appreciated being inside in the air conditioning. Then at the end of the day I thought he would stay up later than usual, but he went to bed at his regular time and slept through the fireworks. This was the first year we let Tyson stay up to watch them, and he loved it (as long as his ears were covered)!

I volunteered to take pictures during the party, so I had a ton to sort through. I had a hard time picking my favorites, but here are a few photos along with a little slideshow I put together.
