The two problems we have (had) are:
- With a pedestal sink, there is NO storage anywhere.
- The sink slopes down in the back and it's impossible to keep a soap dispenser from sliding down. This has seriously driven us NUTS for years. We've tried various soap dispensers and dishes but once we thought we had one that would stay put, we'd hear a loud noise in the bathroom and it would be in the sink bowl, complete with scratches on the porcelain finish. GRRR.
So, I got both of those problems resolved today! I made a cute pedestal skirt to cover the area under the sink (including the garbage can) and create a small hidden storage area for extra hand towels, cleaning products, and whatnot.
I love it! It adds a nice little touch to the bathroom and now no one has to see what's underneath the sink.
|I hope the skirt doesn't get peed on - but that's probably inevitable :(|

And after getting a (slightly tacky) plastic suction cup basket from Target, hopefully our slippery soap problem is solved! I don't even care how it looks at this point, as long as it serves the purpose of keeping the soap dispenser out of the sink. And it's just the right height for the kids to wash their hands while standing on the step stool. Yes!! I'd call it a successful day.
