Blankets for the Boys

The boys are very excited - I made them new blankets for their beds! Miles is actually in the middle of a bedroom transformation, complete with a new race car bed (still in progress - more on that later). His room is going from forest animals (his nursery set) to a transportation theme. Along with the new blanket, I am making a valance and some pillowcases, hanging a new picture or two, and covering a lamp shade with fabric.

And since I was sewing Miles a blanket, I made one for Tyson's sports room too. He picked out the fabric himself!

Both blankets have three different fabrics (cut into simple rectangles - I'm not a quilter, can you tell?!) and backed with soft white minky. It wasn't the most fun to sew with, but man is it soft and cozy! I also "quilted" some large circles on each blanket using a dinner plate as a template. Nothing too exciting, but it will keep the fabric from shifting around.

Miles took to his new blanket right away - I couldn't believe he didn't miss the old one! And Tyson is excited to try his out tonight. I'm glad to have these crossed off the list!
