Shakespeare + Random Tidbits

I'm not a huge Shakespeare fan, yet I've been to two different plays over the past week! We have a beautiful property in town with an outdoor theater where the Shakespeare festival is held every summer. I've been wanting to check it out, so my mom and I went together this year to see "The Rivals", a comedy.

Mom and I after the play
It was an enjoyable time, but I wish we could've gotten there a little early to have more time to explore the grounds and eat dinner. The play was super long though (2 1/2 hours +)! We were in the front row so the lights were right on us and it was warm and muggy. My allergies were acting up and we were both getting tired. It could've been condensed a bit, in my opinion, but I'm definitely glad we checked it out! It was a nice time spent with my mom.

Then yesterday I took the boys back to the same place to see the kids' 45-minute theater for young audiences production of "Comedy of Errors". Even at 45 minutes, it was a bit long for their attention spans!

Miles claimed he had to poop (totally false, by the way), so we had to walk a mile to the restrooms. Then when we got back, the kids were antsy and the sky was getting darker (despite the fact that I had cracked the windows in the car and brought sunscreen with us!). With about 5 minutes to go, it started absolutely pouring and we made a run for the parking lot. It was a bit of a trek, and we had to wait at a red light to cross an intersection. To say we were soaked would be an understatement! It was pretty comical... in the car on the way home, Miles kept saying "Oh my gosh, my head!" as water dripped in his eyes. Too funny!

Last week we lost a huge branch off one of our backyard trees during a storm. It wasn't much of a storm at all, it was just windy, and I had no idea it would be powerful enough to snap the branch off! Poor tree.

In other news, I became obsessed with the idea of a bird nest necklace after seeing a tutorial on how to make one on Pinterest. I'm no jewelry-maker, so I turned to Etsy. My customized mama bird nest, with two aqua eggs signifying our baby birds (who are no longer babies!), came in a few days ago. It's perfect; I just love it! I just can't get enough of the various mothers' necklaces that are out there.

And lastly, I'll share a video of the boys goofing around on the slide last night. Luckily the slide was damp so they were sliding much slower than usual. Jeremy has absent this week (off to San Jose on business), but he is flying back tonight, yippee!

Thanks for stopping by today,
