Weekend of Fall Fun

This weekend consisted of gorgeous fall weather and several fun, outdoor family activities. You couldn't ask for much more!

We enjoyed an Autumn Festival at a local horticultural center. It featured typical fall activities such as scarecrows, a corn maze, pumpkins, hay rack rides, kids' games, a bake sale, and more. The boys had a blast!

Then today we enjoyed preschool family day at a nature center. Miles wasn't feeling so great this afternoon unfortunately, and stayed home and napped.

Tyson and I had a nice time playing, exploring, talking to his teachers and classmates, and eating s'mores. It was held a couple weeks earlier this year than it was last year, and that made a huge difference in the temperature! It felt a little silly to be sitting in front of a bonfire while people were wearing tank tops and shorts. Haha!

A snake, eek!

Jeremy also took the boys to his gym for a cookout, and last night Tyson spent a few hours at a gymnastics center for a pizza pajama party. We don't have pics of either of those activities, though.

Lots of fun this weekend... I'm sad to see it come to an end. Tomorrow we'll be saying goodbye to Jeremy as he travels to NYC for a few days, and helping my Dad celebrate his birthday mid-week.

Hope everyone has a good one!

Fun With Water Beads

Have you heard of these magical things called water beads?

They are delightfully squishy and slippery marble-like objects that are a great plant hydrator, as well as a fun sensory activity for kids. They come in containers already hydrated (which is what I bought) at floral sections of craft stores. You can also buy them as little dry bead packets (in assorted colors) and add water to plump them up yourself.

We tried them out in the backyard a few days ago. The boys were in love! They bounced, scooped, threw, and squished them everywhere. They played with them until every last one was smashed or lost in the yard somewhere. I know we'll be doing this again! I will probably buy the dry bead packets next time, to get more bang for my buck.

Miles liked transferring them from one measuring cup to another

Miles and His Cars

Pretty much any time of day, you can find Miles sprawled out on the floor somewhere, playing with his cars.

Eat. Sleep. Play with cars (clothing optional). Repeat.

Ready for Fall

I don't know about you, but around here...

Freshly spray-painted planters went from boring white to cranberry

Lanterns filled with fall goodies

Mums and pumpkins

Gotta love that fall decor...

The kids are back in school; the air is crisp. Trips to the pumpkin patch are on the horizon. Halloween costumes are being discussed.

Have you gotten out any autumn decorations yet??
