Spring and Easter Round-Up

With this view outside my front door, let's focus on spring and Easter and the warmer weather that (surely) lies ahead!

It's beautiful, but let's face it... three months after Christmas a big snow like this isn't all that welcome or exciting.

First up, I sewed these little guys for Tyson and Miles. I had the springy fabric laying around and wasn't sure what to do with it. My friend Amy suggested making stuffed bunnies out of it, which sounded great to me. Since the boys already have a ton of stuffed animals, I wanted these to be special and only bring them out at Easter time. I also liked the quirky and unique look, similar to Cupcake the Patchwork Bunny.

Butterfly House + Botanical Gardens Trip

Last week my Mom and I went to St. Louis on a bus trip to check out the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Missouri Botanical Garden. We had a nice, relaxing time and enjoyed the sunny, 70 degree weather in mid-March.

Here are some photos from the Butterfly House. The Blue Morphos pictured were EVERYWHERE and very active. It was very neat being inside their climate-controlled environment and having them flutter happily around (and on) us.

Next we had a great lunch outside and took a tour of the Botanical Gardens. Not much was blooming yet, but the grounds were still beautiful and we learned some interesting tidbits about the history of the gardens. We also checked out the Madagascar Orchid Show.

I was happy to have a great day away with my Mom!

Jumping in Muddy Puddles

After a very rainy couple days, the boys asked to jump up and down in muddy puddles just like they see on their favorite TV show, Peppa Pig. (Thanks a lot, Peppa!) :-) I didn't really mind (what's another load of laundry?!). It was almost their bath time and they were acting squirrely inside, anyway.

So here they are, having a blast jumping up and down in muddy puddles, just like Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, Peppa, and George. But instead of jumping in one place, they sprinted and splashed across the length of our backyard.

They were completely SOAKED when they got done (Miles did a face plant in the water) and decided to get in the sandbox after that, as you can see. I basically made them jump in the puddles again just to rinse the sand off!

They had fun, but I hope our yard dries up soon. Come on, Spring!!

St. Patrick's Day Playdate

We hosted a fun St. Patrick's Day playdate at our house. We had a slightly messy tissue paper shamrock craft, yummy green/rainbow treats, and a leprechaun treasure hunt complete with gold coins and take-home goodies at the end!

Like the sunglasses on top of his ears?!

This goofy kid was getting his holidays mixed up

I had TOO much fun planning this little playdate. Other moms contributed some very tasty treats (lime Jello jigglers, cake pops, Lucky Charms snack mix, and some green apples and grapes), which was nice and made it easier on me.

The kids had some free play time after eating and making their crafts, and then we started the treasure hunt. They had fun going all over the house to find the ten clues. I wish I had taken some pictures of the clues or the pot of gold that they found at the end. Oh well!

I'm not sure what Miles was asking me here, but he looks so funny

The pot of gold!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
